We were given a picnic by these inspiring two, from Bank Associates, in the park in Berlin which houses the Brown Berlin Bear. They talked us through some of their recent work which was extremly inspiring. (I will try to upload some pictures later).

We were lucky enough to meet one of the directors of Pentagram, who then gave us tons of books, and spoonfuls of advice...

Most clients are from the non-creative side, therefore they tick different to us designers.

DESIGN IS A WAY OF LIFE.
not business.

Designing brands should be natural, intiution and common sense.

The designer needs to understand the viewers reactions- NOT what you like.

Beware of design for design's sake. If the company, for example, already have a sufficient logo. why take it on just to put your name to it.... is that just?!

The trick
=
you must be able to sell anything.

Intuition.
NO rationality
C O M M U N I C A T I O N.

You need to know the otherside, and the more personal you are with your client, the stronger the trust will be.

Dr Pong was a Club we went to on our last night. The vibe was so fresh, and there was a lot of interaction over the Ping Pong table.

In the easter holidays i went on a Graphic design trip to Berlin.....and it was AMAZING! i have totally fallen in love with the city, i strongly believe that it is the capital of youth culture in Europe.

We covered a lot, and therefore alot i will have to miss out.

CORALIE BICKFORD-SMITH

Whilst doing some research I discovered Coralie Bickford-Smith in the back of a library book on Penguin book cover designs. Having never head of her, and due to my family being completely confused about Graphics, I was overloaded with excitement. I have emailed her, and we are planning to meet and discuss design in a few weeks.

You must check out her work, it is endless. She gained a degree in typography at Reading University, and has a rich reputation of success:

I am currently doing two weeks of work experience with the publishing house called Papadakis. I was lucky enough to have lived next to Alex Papadakis a few years back, and she kindly has given me an in-depth insight into how book publishing companies work.

We are currently working on 5 different books at present, one of which is on stockings a more playful book. I am just taking a little break from my research, to update my lonesome blog.

Yesterday I met the extremely talented photographer, Rob Kesseler, who was the author of 4 successfully published books, and has helped by providing photography for others. He was kind enough to show me some tricks on my Nikon. One of his books is Fruit, which I have put some images in of, which he did in collaboration with Wolfgang Stuppy.

You can purchase books designed by the Papadakis publishing house from local retail sources, their website, enclosed, and on amazon. There is a wide range from, "Exploring the Mystery of Matter," Sound Space Design, the architecture of Don Albert & Partners," to wildlife.

I will upload some photographs of their office and the team after I have finished.

Olympics; Pesimistic or Optamistic Colour Type

This was a group project I, where we designed posters that more legiable according to how you looked at them. The red text states an optimistic opinion of the London Olympics 2010, the blue a negative. You can only read the blue text clearly when looking through a red window. The posters were designed to be put up in London, then public transport vechiles would had occasional red windows, to reveal a pesimistic opinion.
